EMDR Intensives in Dallas, TX

Sometimes 45–60 minutes just doesn’t feel like enough time.

You finally settle into the session, get connected to what we’re working on, and momentum is building. We look at the clock, and it’s almost time to start wrapping things up. For some people, having a longer stretch of uninterrupted time can allow for us to go deeper.

EMDR intensives offer extended blocks of time that are dedicated to EMDR therapy. Instead of spreading the work across traditional weekly sessions, we set aside more time to focus on EMDR in one or multiple sittings.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR intensive is the same as a typical EMDR session (typically 45–60 minutes or 75–90 minutes), but we have more time together. Intensives are 2 hours long or more (up to 4 hours) and may occur once weekly or multiple days in a row, depending on what will work best for you. We will take breaks as needed during the session.

The additional time also gives us room for preparation, breaks, and making sure we have enough time to close the session with care so you can return to your day grounded.

Why choose an EMDR Intensive?

An intensive may be worth considering if:

  • You feel like weekly sessions end just when you’re able to get into the work

  • There is something specific you want to focus on

  • Your schedule makes weekly therapy difficult

  • You already have a therapist and want to do EMDR with me as an add-on to your existing therapy

  • You prefer more concentrated periods of therapeutic work

An intensive is not inherently better than weekly EMDR. It’s simply a different way of structuring time. We have a longer window of time to work in, but that doesn’t mean we rush the process or try to fit more into the session than you’re ready for.

With appropriate coordination and consent, an intensive can be used as an adjunct to your existing therapy. You can continue your ongoing work with your regular therapist, then see me specifically for focused EMDR work.
